Fiberon is Polymakers new range of composite 3D printing filaments, launching in Q4 2024. Polymaker are transitioning PolyMide PA612-CF and their their carbon-fibre / glass fibre reinforced Nylons from the PolyMide family and reintroducing them under the Fiberon product range. 

PolyMide™️ PA612-CF is a carbon fibre reinforced nylon filament based on a copolymer of Nylon 6 and Nylon 12. Featuring 15% chopped carbon fibres by weight, this filament has lower moisture sensitivity compared to PA6/66 and PA6-based materials, and better mechanical properties than PA12-based materials. Together with Polymaker's Warp-Free™ and Fiber-Adhesion™ technology, PolyMide™️ PA612-CF offers an optimal balance by combining the advantages of both PA6 and PA12 with optimised fiber reinforcement to deliver a high-performance filament with outstanding potential for industrial engineering, tooling, automotive, and end-use applications.

Tip - Although Nylon 612 is less sensitive to moisture, we highly recommend to use a wear resistant nozzle, to print with the PolyBox™ and to keep it at dry conditions (relative humidity of 15% or less) at all times to maintain the best printing results. Please see "Specifications & FAQ" tab for data, annealing and additional tips.

Features

  • Best of PA6 and PA12 - PolyMide™ PA612-CF is a copolymer combining PA6 and PA12 with 15% chopper carbon fibre to deliver high stiffness, tensile strength and heat resistance with lower moisture sensitivity. PolyMide™ PA612-CF offers the best middle ground between PA6 and PA12 and is a great-all-rounder for real-world applications that require the higher mechanical performance and affordability of short-chain nylon (PA6) with the reduced moisture sensitivity of long-chain nylon (PA12).
  • Reduced Moisture Sensitivity - In most applications nylon parts absorb moisture from the air. The water molecule increases toughness and durability of the nylon while reducing strength and stiffness. PA6 is more susceptible to absorbing moisture than PA12 and as a result the mechanical properties of PA6 are effected in some application environments. PolyMide™ PA612-CF is less hygroscopic than PA6-CF making it an ideal and cost-effective alternative to PolyMide™ PA6-CF for parts which may be subject to high humidity. 
  • Excellent Heat Resistance - Featuring a high heat resistance after annealing[1], PolyMide™ PA612-CF offers excellent heat resistance for demanding applications where heat and stress are critical design factors.
  • Outstanding Layer Adhesion - Most fibre reinforced materials show a decrease in z-axis layer adhesion when compared with their non-fibre reinforced Nylons, producing a part that is only stronger on the X-Y axis but detrimental to the Z axis. Polymakers Fibre Adhesion™ technology improves the layer adhesion of fibre reinforced materials, by optimising the surface chemistry of the fibres to achieve better dispersion and bonding to the matrix. The implementation of this technology in PolyMide™ PA612-CF not only solves this problem but actually increases Z axis tensile strength creating more isotropic parts that are strong in every direction.
  • Warp-Free™ - Warp-Free™ technology enables the production of Nylon-based filaments that can be 3D printed with excellent dimensional stability and near-zero warpage. This is achieved by the fine control of microstructure and crystallisation behaviour of Nylon, which enables the material to fully release the internal stress before solidification. The Warp-Free™ technology in PolyMide™ PA612-CF is designed to work best with minimal bed temperatures.
  • Excellent Printability – Unlike many other brands of Nylon filament, PolyMide™ PA612-CF is extremely easy to work with, exhibiting excellent dimensional stability during printing. It is compatible with most filament-based 3D printers capable of reaching 260°C nozzle temperature and no heated bed or chamber is required!
  • Uncompromised Quality - Polymakers leading quality control process and rigorous in-house testing ensure reliable printing and consistency across spools and batches.

[1] PolyMide™ PA612-CF displays the best mechanical and thermal properties when fully crystallized. The printed part will not reach full crystallization during the printing process, an additional step is required: Annealing. PolyMide™ PA612-CF can be annealed in the oven at 80˚C for 6 hours right after the printing process.

Technical Data

All PA612-CF specimens were printed with 300°C nozzle temperature, 50°C bed temperature, cooling fan OFF and samples were annealed after printing at 100°C for 16h. Samples were printed with 100% infil, 2 shells and 3 top & bottom layers.

Wrong item ships/decent pillow/price unjustified

Sent me the wrong pillow twice in a row. It said high loft and standard loft on the packing, not sure what the problem is. I ordered standard loft both times, and both times they sent high loft. That name is very deceiving though. If what I have is high loft, the standard loft wouldn’t be much thicker than your standard flat down pillow. If you’d like any sort of neck support I’d suggest starting with the high loft and going down instead of the other way around. I am 5’ 7” 130lbs and this pillow does not lift my neck up further than neutral, which is a good thing. Shredded memory foam pillows are significantly higher or thicker if that helps. Pillow itself grew on me. You can definitely feel that there is a different material in the center of the pillow. I ordered it as a gift and ended up keeping both pillows. The price tag on this item is absolutely outrageous. I would have never ordered it for myself. Saatva products don’t last in my experience, we got their firmest mattress and within 2 years it was sagging horribly. I am interested to see how long this pillow lasts!

Mixed Feelings on the Saatva Pillow - A Comprehensive Review

I then decided to try the standard size, and I like it much better! While I still use this pillow occasionally, I generally stick with my Purple Harmony pillow more. Changing my rating to 4 stars. --- Background: Over the past 2 years, I have embarked on a journey to find the perfect pillow, testing over ten different options, including numerous high-end brands. My latest trial was the Saatva pillow, renowned for its rave reviews. Expectations vs. Reality: Despite its widespread acclaim, my experience with the Saatva pillow did not meet my expectations. I opted for the higher loft variant, aligning with my general preference, yet I found it too high of a lot even as a primary side sleeper. Material and Comfort: The Saatva pillow, composed of both latex and down alternative, presented a lumpy texture. This inconsistency resulted in varied support depending on the position of my head. Unlike my regular down alternative pillow, the Saatva required frequent re-fluffing and adjusting throughout the night. Comparison and Value: Considering its price and the overwhelming number of positive reviews, my disappointment was notable. Surprisingly, a more affordable down alternative pillow from Amazon outperformed the Saatva in terms of support and comfort, despite the latter's use of higher quality fabrics and its significantly higher cost. Final Verdict: This pillow was one of the last in my quest to discover the "best" pillow. Sadly, it ranks in the lower ranks among the high-end, expensive pillows I've tried. I preferred the Purple Harmony pillow over the Saatva, albeit with reservations about the Purple Harmony as well. Conclusion: The Saatva pillow, while undoubtedly high-quality and possessing comfortable aspects, did not live up to my expectations, landing it in my pile of unused pillows. The latex inner chamber provides some much needed support, but the softer outer chamber gives me enough cushion to keep my ears from aching. I will say that, while this is the perfect height for me, personally, I think that if you're someone who prefers a pretty lofty pillow, that this might not be tall enough for you. I ordered the taller version, and it feels right for me, but I've noticed in my pillow buying extravaganza that even pillows that everyone else loves that are designed for side sleepers are usually just too tall for me. So if this pillow is right for me, and you prefer a pretty lofty pillow, I really bet that this won't be tall enough in that case. It's definitely more of a medium loft, rather than a very high loft

I have to testify about this pillow, my brothers and sisters. Ever since I hit my 30s, my body has gone down. Aches and pains. Pops. Crackles. Snaps. It’s ridiculous. Over the last 2 years, I have managed to injure a muscle in my shoulder and the pain is unbearable when it is inflamed. I finally narrowed it down to the pillow I was sleeping on. I have an attachment to a pillow I’ve owned for over 20 years - that’s another story. I could fold it 3 times and it was finally thick enough to support my head. My shoulder got so tore up recently that I had to go through 2 rounds of steroids plus round the clock ibuprofen. Waking up in the night, the whole ordeal. I ordered this pillow after much research all over the internet. I was appalled by the $165 price ticket. But when you’re in that level of pain, you’re just about willing to do whatever it takes. The first night I immediately noticed I got more consecutive hours of sleep than I had in weeks. A week later and my shoulder is pain free. I could’ve cried. The height of this pillow stabilizes my neck and shoulders perfectly. It is firm, but gives and contours to your neck and head. It’s a heavy pillow but I don’t even care. Truly I don’t think I’ll ever go back. This pillow has saved my shoulder and I’ll never stop thanking God for it. If you’re experiencing back, shoulder, or neck pain and are considering this pillow, just order it. Please. Just do it. I’m forever changed. But I’m still keeping 20 year old pillow… just for sentimental purposes. 😂
