Chiara Pastò finally releases a jazz album. In her fourth album, all produced with my label Velut Luna and with me as producer, the young, brilliant singer from Padua, now at the height of her artistic and vocal maturity, tackles her "chosen territory," which she has worked on throughout her academic career and performed in many concert occasions. The repertoire of this album features some very famous standards, such as the title track or "Round Midnight," but also a highly original foray into Astor Piazzolla's celebrated piece, "Libertango," to which Chiara herself provides a fascinating, never-before-heard text. And then one of her original pieces, written with Enrico Santacatterina, "Just A Smile," which is one of her pop "signature songs," so to speak, now reinterpreted as a jazz standard. A complete and mature album, enhanced by the piano mastery, refined taste, and admirable technique of Francesco Pollon, perhaps the most representative young Italian jazz pianist, who currently lives and works in New York after earning a prestigious master's degree at the Manhattan School Of Music - Jazz Arts. In short... Young, great musicians still exist, and more than ever, in Italy: they just need to be given the space they deserve!
