The A Level German courses equip students with an in depth knowledge of the vocabulary and grammar of the German Language allowing them to appreciate the culture and media from Germany. A Level German is a good basis to progress to further studies including Modern Languages, International Relations and European Studies.

FAQ A Level German:

Do I need to be a native German speaker?
No, the course is designed for someone who has studied to learn the language, although if you are not a native speaker then studying GCSE German first is beneficial.

I am resitting, can I carry forward my speaking exam?
For the Pearson Edexcel course the speaking can be carried forward, please ensure you select the correct option above. You will need to provide the UCI number you used when you originally took the exams and proof of the original mark for this component. This option is not available for the AQA course.

What are the arrangements for the speaking part of the exam?
The speaking part of the exam is conducted at our centre in Birmingham in April. You will be sent a date and time for your speaking exam by March. Two weeks before the exam you will be required to complete a form with details of your individual research project which you will present as part of the speaking assessment. The speaking exam takes no longer than 30 minutes to complete. Please remember to bring your ID to the speaking exam.

How does the listening examination work?
Candidates are provided with their own MP3 player onto which the listening files have been downloaded; you will need to provide your own noise cancelling headphones or earphones which has a jack connector.

Do I need to bring copies of my research or the set texts to the exams?
No, these are closed book exams, although extracts from the set texts may be given in the exams.

Am I allowed to use a dictionary in the exams?
No, dictionaries are not allowed for any of the exams.

Highly Recommended – Saved Big and Easy Install at 83 Years Old!
